Malik Knighten



Malik Knighten was born on April 17,1999 in Los Angeles, CA. However his hometown is Charles City, Iowa.
At the age 17, Malik was a senior at Charles City High School. In the beginning, Malik main interest was playing football and basketball.



His original goal was to play in the NBA like his idol Stephen Curry, but his goal changed during his sophomore year when he gotten grounded. While he was grounded, he used that time to teach himself to play a guitar, and he begin singing. Malik's musical inspirations was Michael Jackson, Shawn Mendes, and Justin Bieber.


For a while, Malik main passion was still basketball. During his Junior year, he became more interested in music than he did in basketball. Malik quit the basketball team, so he would have more time to focus on music. 
Even though he quit the basketball team, he still supported the team, and he even perform the national anthem at one of the games.



He started writing songs and posting singing videos online. With the help of one of his friends, Malik recorded a song and put it on iTunes.



For a little while, Malik was apart of the boy group, YounGentlemen.


Malik's talent caught the attention of Sony Music. They gave him the chance to pursue a professional music career.
 In December 2016, Sony Music requested for him to join a R&B/pop group called Next Town Down.
The representative from Sony Music arranged a meeting on Skype with Malik to talk to him and for Malik to sing for them.
They flew Malik out to Los Angeles for 12 days to meet the members of Next Town Down and to record a couple of demos. After Malik signed a contract with Sony Music, and he moved to Los Angeles to lived.
Since Malik was still a senior in high school, he completed the remaining of his classes online, so he could still get his diploma.
While Malik left his family in Charles City, Iowa, Malik stayed at a studio in LA that provided housing and working with a daily class schedule of music theory, dance, studio work, and his high school courses.

Malik graduated in the year of 2017


Malik was the fifth and final member to join Next Town Down.

    So I'm a huge fan of Malik, I watch and listen to NDT everyday on YouTube, I hate to say bc I'm a 36 year old Woman and no I'm not crazy or weird but I know talet when I see it....I see Great Things happening for you, all you guys are Great and can sing ,but Malik is my favorite,just something about him .I wish I could meet u in person one day to show my love to you...Continue to let God use you !!!

Terence Thomas was born on January 27,1996. He was born and raised in Hollandale,MS. Ever since Terence was a little kid, he knew he wanted to do something that involves music. His mother was a preacher so he was raise up in church. During that time, Terence singed on the church chorus, and he played the piano at church. Tre'von Waters was born on July 14,1996. He was born in Kilmarnock, VA, but he was raised in Lancaster, VA. Tre'von discovered his talent while he was living in Lancaster, VA.
